Jaki CD-ROM dla AOS 4.0 i klasyka?
Witam,

Good!
Please also make sure to disable "MapROM" in your PowerPC card before trying to install AOS4.0!
This must be done by pressing "ESC" key during boot; you will enter to PowerPC card set-up and go to "System" to check this option.
And there were few version of flash for PowerPC cards, it's always good to have the last one, but WITHOUT OpenPCI support (OpenPCI means G-Rex support, but lack of BVPPC/CVPPC support).
Cheers,
Stan

Yes, my CSPPC has 128MB installed (4x 32MB EDO). I booted into 3.1 to verify and it is all seen

Forgot to add:
You must have 64MB of RAM to boot AOS4.0!
And MapROM function in BlizzardPPC/CyberstormPPC must be off!
Please read AOS4.0 manual first!
I've sent your BlizzardPPC card configured to work with AOS3.0/3.1/3.9/4.0 and BVPPC out of box; just insert 64MB of RAM!

Stan

I've tested 4 CD-ROM units and only one was 100% compatible and HDD LED was off about 4-5 second from switch-on.
Only this Teac was 100% ok and HDD LED turn of after about 4-5sec.
It was tested on A1200 with ROM 3.0
Maybe behaviour on 3.1 is different?
Which ROM are you using?
I have no idea which modern combo drive is 100% ok; I'm going to make small research inside Polish Amiga Users and I will let you know.
During KS4.0 boot on A1200 with incopatible CD-ROM I had 2 or 3 different colours and just after noise on the screen (irregular black/whie dot patterns; very similar to TV picture without antenna signal).
And of course HDD LED stays on much longer than 5 sec.
Tested on several BlizzardPPC card; including yours!

Stan

Hi Stan
Sorry, missed the point about the HDD light. I booted the Amiga 3 times; one with no CD-ROM, one with my HP CD-RW and one with my Sony DVD-RW.
When booting without a CD-ROM that hard drive light went dark after a second at most. With the either of the CD-ROMs attached it stayed lit for way longer than 5 seconds.
Got any tips on a reasonably new CD-ROM that works? It would get expensive buying and trying a whole pile :)
Just to be sure..you got the YELLOW screen of death when using an incompatible CD-ROM?
Thanks
Mark

I had the same problem on A1200 when I installed AOS4.0.
Beleive me or not but the problem was: CD-ROM!!!!!
I found only one unit of 4 tested to working 100% properly on A1200 standard IDE controller!!!!
It's old Teac drive.
Other 3 are working properly under AOS3.1 loaded from HDD.
How to check it (solution for A1200):
When botted please observe HDD diode; if it's stays on for longer than 5 second; CD-ROM is not 100% compatible with A1200 controller.
I didn't installed AOS4.0 on my A4000; but the behaviour with HDD LED should be similar.

Stan

Hi Stan
A question if you don't mind me picking your brains..no rush, just when you get a moment to reply.
I'm trying to install OS 4.0 on my 4000/CSPPC. Problem I'm having is that it boots from floppy (fine) then does a soft reset. After a while it reads more from the floppy and from the CD until the screen flashes blue, red, blue then stays on yellow. The CD at this time is spinning but not reading as far as I can tell. Any idea what this might be pointing to? I'd try it on my 1200 but the PPC hasn't turned up yet so I don't have a 'reference' with which to compare against.
Any help appreciated
Thanks
Mark

Czy ktoś miał podobne przejścia z niekompatybilnym CD-ROM-em?
