I can answer as the developer of LightTreeFM.
LightTreeFM is still mainly a file manager, so the image viewer should be considered an additional feature rather than the main purpose of the program but...some improvements may be implemented..
At the moment I am working on a new update that includes several improvements. One of them is support for an optional Own Screen, with selectable resolutions and 4, 8 or 16 colours, independent from the Workbench screen. The idea is to give the application more control over its display environment, while still keeping it suitable for classic Amiga systems.
One of the main challenges with an Own Screen is that external tools and applications may still open on Workbench or on another public screen, so keeping the workflow coherent and comfortable requires some careful design. And every application handles this in it own way...i can't rely on a universal rule.
Another important area is the scalable interface. The UI is being adapted to work with custom fonts selectable inside the application, including both proportional and monospaced fonts. This means the interface has to scale according to real font metrics, rather than relying only on fixed pixel assumptions.
I have also worked on optimizing Chip RAM usage on basic systems. In some peak cases, the current development version can save roughly around 150–200 KB of Chip RAM compared to the previous approach, which should help on lower-end configurations.
The image viewer may receive further development too, but probably after the next update. For now, I prefer to focus on stability, memory usage, and the main interface improvements first.
These are only some of the improvements planned for the next update. I am working on it together with Martin Ericsson, who is helping especially with the graphical side of the project, mainly icons and logo work.
I will try, within my possibilities, to adapt LightTreeFM to users’ needs as I receive feedback. I cannot promise that every option will be implemented immediately, but useful suggestions are very welcome and will help guide the development.
thank you !
